What is Traffic Survival School (TSS)?

Traffic survival school is an eight-hour course, that is required by Arizona Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). If you are notified to attend, you must complete a class in order to avoid having your license suspended.

What is the difference between Traffic Survival School and Defensive Driving?

Traffic Survival is an 8 hour class that may be required to retain your driver’s license in good standing and Defensive Driving is a court diversion program offered as an option to dismiss the violation from your driving record. 

Does Traffic Survival School remove points from my record?

No, Traffic Survival School does not remove points from your record. It is only a requirement to keep your driver’s license from being suspended.

Does Traffic Survival School get reported to my insurance company?

No, Traffic Survival School does not get reported to your insurance company. This requirement is only to keep your driver’s license from being suspended or to reinstate your license if it is already suspended. The points for your ticket or violation is what is reported on your motor vehicle record (MVR) which is what insurance companies use to check your driving record.  Insurance premiums may increase depending on  insurance agency’s policies.

How do I know if I have to go to Traffic Survival School?

If you received a letter from MVD stating that you have a Traffic Survival School requirement you must attend. The letter will state your name, address, case number and reason for the requirement. This requirement is mandatory and your license will be suspended if you fail to attend.

What if my license is already suspended, can I attend traffic survival school?

Yes, if your license is suspended you will be required to attend a licensed traffic survival school. After completion of your class you will be able to reinstate your license with MVD.

Who has to attend Traffic Survival School?

  • Have accumulated 8-12 points on their driver’s license
  • A conviction for red-light running
  • A conviction for driver under the influence (DUI)
  • A conviction for reckless driving
  • Received a red-light violation and paid the ticket (but did not attend) Defensive Driving School
  • A conviction of aggressive driving, moving violation resulting in an accident causing serious physical injury, or moving violation resulting in an accident causing death.
  • The first moving violation of a driver under 18 years old.
  • Have a suspended license and required to attend
  • Received a ticket out-of-state and that state requires Traffic Survival School

What if I received a court order to attend Traffic Survival School?

If you are Court Ordered and received court documentation specifically stating that the judge has required a traffic survival school class, then you must obey the court order and register for traffic survival school. You will need to bring a copy of the paperwork to be admitted to class.  Register now.

How much is Traffic Survival School?

Traffic survival school classes start at $145 and include the enrollment fee required by the Arizona Chapter National Safety Council. There are no separate fees required for in person classes. A discount may be applied for pre-payment prior to class date. Pay cash, money order, or cashier’s check on the day of class. Money oder or cashier’s checks must be made payable to All Access Traffic Survival School.

What do I bring on the day of class?

  • You must bring your driver’s license or valid government ID
  • Traffic Survival School letter or Court Order
  • Pre-paid receipt, cash, money order, or cashier’s check

How long is the class?

Traffic Survival School is an 8 hour requirement with half an hour added for lunch. Expect to attend Traffic Survival School for 8 ½ hours including lunch. Traffic Survival School is scheduled from 8 am – 4:30 pm.  You must arrive 30 minutes early for check-in and pre-registration. Virtual classes are scheduled for two 4-hour sessions in the morning or evening (A total of 8 hours must be completed to meet the requirement).

Do you report my Traffic Survival School completion to the Motor Vehicle Division?

Yes, after successful completion of class, you will receive a certificate of completion for your record.  A copy of the certificate is electronically sent to MVD.  However, if your driver’ license is already suspended for failure to attend TSS, you must pay a reinstatement fee.  To reinstate your driver’s license visit an MVD office or MVD website at www.azmvdnow.gov

Can I reschedule my class?

Yes, please contact our office at (480) 401-5050 to reschedule your class.

Can I get a refund if I fail to attend class?

A refund is fully refundable if the class has been cancelled.  You will be able to reschedule class if you notify the school at least a day before class.  To request a refund please email our school at info@trafficsurvival.com. Refunds will be issued within 4 days.
